Trombini has achieved the Zero Landfill Certification, an award granted by SINPACEL to companies that demonstrate excellence in waste management and high landfill diversion rates. This achievement reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability, the circular economy, and the best environmental practices in the industry.
What is the Zero Landfill Certification?
Created by SINPACEL, with support from the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná (FIEP) and the Secretariat for Sustainable Development (Sedest), the initiative recognizes companies that implement consistent actions focused on reducing, reusing, recycling, and properly disposing of waste. Trombini is the first company to receive this recognition.
How does the certification process work?
To ensure the credibility of the certification, SINPACEL developed a methodology that combines document analysis, on-site audits, and evaluation of environmental initiatives. The process is divided into four stages:
1. Submission of waste management information
The candidate company submits complete data regarding waste generation and disposal, inventories, Waste Management Plans (PGRS), licenses, and traceability documentation through the Terms of Reference.
2. Technical analysis and audit
SINPACEL’s technical team evaluates the information, visits storage areas, and verifies:
- Legal compliance;
- Traceability of Waste Transport Manifests (MTRs);
- Effective waste disposal;
- Quality of waste segregation and operational organization.
3. Issuance of technical reports
Two reports are prepared:
- Compliance report;
- Environmental maturity report, which assigns a score based on several indicators.
4. Certification and seal
Companies receive a certificate valid for 12 months. The classification depends on the landfill diversion percentage:
- Zero Landfill Commitment: more than 90% diversion;
- Towards Zero Landfill: between 50% and 89.9%.
Trombini’s performance: exemplary waste management and landfill diversion
Trombini participated in the pilot project with its three manufacturing plants in Curitiba (PR) — Bags, Corrugated Cardboard, and Paper — using 2024 data as a reference. The technical audit was carried out in November and highlighted the maturity and efficiency of the company’s waste management system.
Bags and Corrugated Cardboard Units
These units achieved one of the best performances in the sector. A total of 99.03% of waste was diverted from landfills through co-processing, recycling, and organic treatment. With this performance, the units received the Zero Landfill Commitment seal, the highest level of the program.

Paper Mill
The Paper unit also achieved a significant result: 89.04% of waste was diverted from landfills.
This performance earned the unit the Towards Zero Landfill seal, reinforcing Trombini’s commitment to sustainable best practices.

Ongoing commitment to sustainability and ESG
The Zero Landfill Certification strengthens Trombini’s position regarding ESG practices and the circular economy. The company’s waste management demonstrates:
- Compliance with environmental legislation;
- Full waste traceability;
- Robust segregation and storage processes;
- Investment in environmental education;
- Partnerships with licensed waste disposal companies.
