Trombini is the big winner of the 5S Best Practices Award – Southern Region
The City Hall of Farroupilha announces this Thursday (6) a R$ 120 million investment in the municipality. Trombini Embalagens’ expansion plan will be executed in four phases, with construction beginning in July of this year and full operation expected in the first half of 2030.
The project includes 8,000 square meters (m²) of new built area—5,000 m² dedicated to production and 3,000 m² to shipping. The facility’s monthly capacity will exceed 20 million m², with the company projecting a 15% to 20% revenue increase for the plant. The information was released by the Farroupilha City Hall communications team.
Part of the equipment has already been acquired and is set to operationalize by the end of this year. The machinery package includes a high-print-quality rotary die-cutter, a digital printer, a flatbed die-cutter, a varnish applicator, and a robotic palletizing cell, alongside smaller auxiliary equipment. Currently in the specification phase are a flexographic printer capable of producing 42,000 boxes per hour and automated intralogistics systems.
With the new equipment, the plant will manufacture high-print-quality packaging and offer digital printing—products not currently included in its line. “What changes with this expansion is the type of product we can deliver. Today, we face print quality limitations, which restricts the clients we can serve,” states Mauro Diogo da Silva, Production Manager at Trombini.
The Farroupilha plant exports to Uruguay and Argentina, and the expansion will broaden the product portfolio available to these foreign markets. Trombini Embalagens currently ranks first among the largest ICMS (State Sales Tax) taxpayers in Farroupilha, a position highlighted in the local administration’s recognition of the municipality’s top 100 corporate contributors. “An investment of this scale confirms that Farroupilha has the infrastructure to support tech-focused industries,” says Mayor Jonas Tomazini.
